The Large Hadron Collider could generate black holes, but they would be too tiny and short-lived to do any harm and would be no more malevolent than the cosmic rays constantly bombarding Earth . Summary: The upcoming Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN could be dangerous. New arguments based on astrophysical phenomena constrain the possibility that dangerous black holes will be produced at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. From the flagellants of the Middle Ages to the doomsayers of Y2K, humanity has always been prone to good old-fashioned the-end-is-nigh hysteria. (PhysOrg.com) -- Just bringing up the topic of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) creating a black hole that destroys the Earth might seem unscientific and out of place on a science news website. With ∼20 dimensions the hierarchy problem is shown to be naturally solved without the need for large compactification radii. It might just be black holes all the way down. It could produce potentially dangerous particles such as mini black holes, strangelets, and monopoles. Its very-high-energy proton collisions are yielding extraordinary . Maximilien Brice/CERN. The idea that a parallel universe or many universes (multiverses) exist, has been around for a while. It is even probable that gravity from our own universe may "transfer" into this parallel universe, researchers at the LHC say. In recent years the scientific community is shaken with the new discoveries made by the Large Hadron Collider (or the LHC). The very existence of the Large Hadron Collider owes itself to a massive effort involving a cast of thousands. The energy necessary to produce such a black hole is 39 orders of magnitude greater than the energies available at the Large Hadron Collider, indicating that the LHC cannot produce mini black holes. Abstract of \ Search for Microscopic Black Hole Signatures at the Large Hadron Collider " by Ka Vang Tsang, Ph.D., Brown University, May 2011 A search for microscopic black hole production and decay in proton-proton colli-sions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV has been conducted using Compact Muon But, for the record, it could not have created one on its first day. There is string theory and the "many . The LHC has sat in repair for over 13 months, with no successful . If this is true, it could mean more than just a black hole discovery. Using the theme of black holes, you will learn the basic ideas of astronomy, relativity, and quantum physics. . The staggeringly complex LHC 'atom smasher' at the CERN centre in Geneva, Switzerland, will be fired up to its highest energy levels ever in a bid to detect - or even create - miniature black holes. The Large Hadron Collider by Miles Williams Mathis. The assumptions about black holes in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are not groundless, but they relate to the so-called quantum black holes. In the past . The Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva has had so many setbacks now that top physicists are claiming (seriously) that the project may be witnessing sabotage from the future. After all, the subject is generally considered to be out of place in the particle physics community, since peer-reviewed studies have shown that there is . The particle accelerator, which will be restarted this week, has already found the Higgs boson - the God Particle - which is thought to give mass to other particles. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a massive underground particle accelerator located in Switzerland. If mini black holes are detected at the LHC, then it would arguably support several ideas: parallel universes, extra dimensions, string theory, and gravity's rainbow—with . A woman concerned that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will create black holes and destroy the Earth lost a court appeal to shut the atom smasher down on Tuesday.
