From: Advanced Vehicle Technology (Second Edition), 2002. I've heard of people bending ice-techs. Larger rotors increase the mechanical advantage the caliper has on the rotor, which typically yields (you guessed it!) In the inventive floating caliper spot-type disc brake, the advantages of an increased rigidity of the caliper and of a secure support of the caliper are, thus, combined with each other. . 3.2 Floating floors may amplify sound. A heavy weight stops . Standard GM and Ford 8.8 axles are held in with C-clips at the center of the rear end. The stated purpose of the floating rotor was to reduce the amount of heat transferred into adjacent components as they maintain a significant air gap between the hat & rotor. Brake pad:- It makes contact with the rotor disc, and due to friction between the brake pad and rotor disc, the vehicle speed decreases, and it stops.Caliper Bracket. DSC_0653
