spitzer space telescope resolution

The Spitzer Space Telescope, formerly the Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF), is a infrared space telescope launched in 2003 and retired on 30 January 2020.. Spitzer was the third spacecraft dedicated to infrared astronomy, following IRAS (1983) and ISO (1995–98). This orbiting telescope was the first of NASA's Great Observatories. This orbiting telescope was the first of NASA's Great Observatories. In order to improve resolution, on April 23, mission planners optimized the focus of the telescope by moving the primary mirror 40 micrometers toward the focal plane and tilting it by 0.0072 degrees. STScI hosts colloquia, conferences, lectures, meetings, symposia, and workshops that cover a broad array of topics of interest to the astronomical community as well as the general public. Spitzer's proposal called for a large telescope that would not be hindered by Earth's atmosphere. In the case of Webb, its mirror is nearly 60 times larger than previous space telescopes, like the retired Spitzer Space Telescope.
