Redundant domain, front end, and validation servers can be used for load-balancing to insure customers can always be serviced. A critical factor in your backup solution is remote backups. (due to partial or complete redundancy of the data). We build each center to the same spec and equip it to provide the full . and potential downtime losses for remote offices in order to determine how much infrastructure equipment and redundancy they really need at each site, based on its importance to the business. One cable run can't handle the load that the data center is pulling through, so on top of redundancy there was no account for load balancing (if one fails, what happens when the other path takes over the entire load?) Develop a Data Archiving Policy. Attempting to live vMotion a DE with a 10Gb NIC over a 1Gb vMotion network is thus likely to fail. to develop best practices and standards. However, there are some general practices that companies may follow to grasp that low-hanging fruit, and improve data protection outcomes: Identify and classify sensitive data, to avoid confusion and understand which pieces are mission critical. Redundancy refers to a system design where a component is duplicated so that in the event of a component failure, IT equipment is not impacted. This design could be for a complete data center or for a subsection of the data center, such as an IT pod, IT room, power plant, or cooling plant. There is a Best solution for each situation. A weak link in this part of the chain can negate all the benefits of the data center's proximity and redundancy to users in that metropolitan region. . The best practices listed here focus on the most common deployment scenario, but is not intended to preclude the use of alternative topologies. Consolidation should ideally prevent redundancy, remove . Data center consolidation is quite similar to two people who have been living on their own at separate locations move together into the same house. That's one 'gotcha' I find in many data centers. Every aspect of a SoftLayer data center—from location and accessibility to power density and redundancy—is designed to guarantee its security, resiliency, and efficiency.
